Does A Research Paper Need A Thesis?

Does a research paper need a thesis? Of cause it does! A research paper without a thesis is driving a vehicle without a properly functioning steering wheel. Such a vehicle would wobble around the road and end up in places where the driver had no intention of going. In worst case scenario, it could even lead to the death of the driver.
In the case of essays, if one gets a strict lecturer, and most lecturer are very strict, then one would definitely receive a very poor grade and even a fail for not including a thesis statement. Regardless of the type of essay that one wishes to compose, it has to have a main topic. In college level writing this topic is both expressed in the topic of the essay and in the last sentence of the introduction in the form of a thesis statement.
A thesis statement is among the very important part of any essay because it is the sentence that summarizes what the writer has in mind for the essay and also guides the reader towards reading and interpreting the contents of the essay accurately. A thesis statement is many thing and these include it being a claim, not a fact that can be supported by several reasons.
A thesis statement also directly answers the main question that is being asked in the assignment. The thesis statement also unifies the essay by elaborating on the most important and significant points of the writer related to the essay. Additionally, a thesis statement predicts the order and the contents of the essay and is usually a single sentence.
